St. Patrick Comes Early to Bornholm in 2026

The 3 Legged Charity Race started in Copenhagen in 2001 and today is a unique tradition that raises money for children’s charities while kicking off the city’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Since 2007, we’ve raised more than 750,000 DKK for charitable causes.

In 2026, the legendary 3 Legged Charity Race will take place outside Copenhagen for the first time, as we take to the streets of Svaneke with our event St. Patrick Comes Early to Bornholm.

On the Day

Registration takes place at Svaneke Torv from 14:00.
Here you will be asked to sign our race agreement, provide a team name and pay your donation of 100 DKK per team.

After this, you’ll receive your 3LR package with your armband, velcro legtie, and a team sheet with your team name.

Before the race starts, you can test your 3-legged skills around the square or enjoy a pre-race beer at Madvig or Søllings Bodega.

Check-in closes at 14:50 and all teams must be registered before this time.

The race starts at 15:00.

The Bornholm Route 2026

On the team sheet you will find a QR code for the route map as well as space for the stamps you receive at each of the three bars.

At each bar you must drink a small beer (½ pint) and receive a stamp.

Racers must follow a designatured route that passes through the following bars:

Finish Line

The race finishes at Søllings Bodega. When you have finished your third and final beer, our volunteers will register your finishing time.

All teams must cross the finish line no later than 15:50 to be eligible for prizes.

Prize Ceremony

The prize ceremony will take place at Søllings Bodega at 16:00.

The Story Behind the Race

It’s a simple recipe- take a time-honoured race and some classic pubs. Mix with some Velcro leg ties and plenty of fun-loving revellers. Then sprinkle with some heart-warming appeal and a bit of craic, and you have the makings of the perfect way to celebrate the Irish national holiday.

Sponsored by Guinness, the 3 Legged Charity Race is Copenhagen’s longest running St. Patrick’s Day event. Started back in 2001, this wacky race, together with Shamrock Love, has donated 750.005 DKK (€100,552) to various charities and put Copenhagen on the lists of best places in the world to celebrate the day.

In 2026, for the first time, a 3 Legged Charity Race will taken place outside Copenhagen, with St. Patrick Comes Early to Bornholm. We can’t wait to see all our friends, old and new, in Svaneke on Saturday, 14 March and as always, in Copenhagen on Tueday, 17 March, St. Patrick’s Day ☘💚
